Role Purpose

The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations — including goods-in, storage, inventory management, order fulfilment, and dispatch — ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and client satisfaction. This role plays a key part in leading both B2B and e-commerce fulfilment operations, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily warehouse operations, including inbound receiving, storage, inventory control, order processing, and outbound logistics.

• Oversee e-commerce fulfilment operations, ensuring orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately and on time.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, client SLAs, and all relevant health and safety regulations.

• Lead, train, and motivate warehouse teams to achieve performance targets and maintain high standards of productivity and accuracy.

• Plan and allocate labour, equipment, and space effectively to meet fluctuating demand, particularly during seasonal peaks.

• Monitor key operational KPIs (accuracy, efficiency, turnaround times, service levels) and report performance to senior management.

• Drive process improvements, automation, and technology adoption to enhance operational efficiency and service quality.

• Foster strong working relationships with internal departments (Customer Service, Finance, and Admin) to ensure smooth end-to-end operations.

• Manage warehouse budgets, cost control, and resource allocation in line with business objectives.

• Ensure all systems, including the Warehouse Management System (WMS), are utilised effectively to support inventory accuracy and visibility.

Skills and Experience Required

• Proven experience managing warehouse operations in a 3PL or logistics environment.

• Strong understanding of e-commerce fulfilment processes, including pick and pack, order tracking, and returns management.

• Excellent leadership and people management skills, with experience managing teams in a fast-paced environment.

• Solid knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and general IT literacy.

• Data-driven decision maker with strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong client communication skills with a focus on service excellence.

• Deep understanding of health and safety requirements and compliance standards.

• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and operational challenges.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in warehouse management or logistics operations leadership.

• Formal qualification in logistics, supply chain management, or business (e.g. CILT, ILM, or equivalent) desirable.

• Health & Safety certification (IOSH or NEBOSH) preferred.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and WMS platforms.
